Where now in design? We have, in the words of Danny Hillis, become “so intertwined with what we have created that we are no longer separate from it. We have outgrown the distinction between the natural and the artificial.” This talk is a reflection on the fusion of design and science practiced at the MIT Media Lab. It also draws on experiences at Dopplr, the Nokia Design studio, and most recently, the Sync Project, a global collaboration harnessing the power of music for health. Sync is applying machine learning to a dataset combining music listening and it’s biometric effects, to develop music as personalised medicine.

Marko is an entrepreneur, designer and investor. He is CEO and co-founder of The Sync Project, and a Director's Fellow at the MIT Media Lab. From 2009 to 2013 he was head of product design at Nokia, responsible for hardware, user experience and packaging design. The work of the Nokia design team includes the award-winning N9 and Lumia.
