Algorithms have revolutionized pretty much every area of manufacturing and engineering. Is interaction design the next? This talk gives an overview of what future holds for algorithmic methods in interaction design. I give a live demo with an interactive layout optimizer, provide an overview of bleeding-edge research, and provoke discussion on what might happen to the profession of interaction design in 5 years.

Antti Oulasvirta is an Associate Professor at Aalto University where he leads the User Interfaces research group.
